The Practice of Ikebana

The Practice of Ikebana

Flower Magazine (December 2011)

For this piece, I turn my  focus to the ancient art of Ikebana. Master of the Ohara School, Jane Mullins, shares the philosophy of this practice born of the Ikenobo school in the late 1800s. From selection of the chosen vessel to the symbolism attached to bud, flower, stem and faded leaf, an appreciation of nature and the passage of time is reflected in every arrangement.
